Se Konsa!

We are the Emmons family of 10 with 5 grown children in the US, and 2 adopted children from China with special needs.  Our ministry started in 2015, when we sold all we had, loaded up our 3 youngest children and headed for Belize.  Our family is surrendered to God’s will, living in faith for His guidance and provision in the country of Belize as missionaries. Our organization is called Se Konsa! which means “that’s right!”  Currently our ministry includes outreaches into villages, hospitals, schools, and to families with special needs children. As our ministry touches mothers, fathers, children, the sick, teachers, and even the men and women that work at the camp, our desire is to show God’s love.  Our goal is to let each of them know that they are wonderfully and beautifully created, by a loving Father and given redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ

The Special needs children are coming to Camp Se Konsa!

Wow it has been a very busy year!  Let’s recap, February Mark visited many churches and the donations received went to clearing 5 acres of land, and employed 7 Belizeans for almost a  month, at Camp Se Konsa! It helped us to serve in and around Belize, ministering at hospitals, tutoring, and maintaining our lives here. After the Land was cleared our sending church, Lift Church had us prepare the land for fencing by having locals put in 310 post! In March a team of 17 volunteers from Lift Church of KC came and in six days purchased and put up a five-foot chain-

link fence and 3 barbwires above it, around all 5 acres!!  This brought Camp Se Konsa! “That’s Right” into reality! Just a few weeks later we were given a building for the office/nurses room and storage.  Our friends James and Nanette gave it to us to use for the next two years.  Once this was on the property we put the gate and entry walls up enclosing the 5 acres and making it safe for all who come to the camp, and keeping the livestock in, that will eventually feed the many children. The year had just started and the Lord wasn’t finished bringing teams to Belize and to Camp Se Konsa!  In June our friend Dr. Dean brought two teams to Camp Se Konsa!  The first team was from Rock Mills Church of Nazarene, the team of 5 individuals helped paint inside our new building, brought 50 new mom’s care packages for the hospital ministry.  Then went with Dana to the hospital to pray for the sick in the emergency room and deliver lunch to the nurses and doctors! Daily two young ladies filled the building with

songs as they painted themselves and the walls.  It didn’t stop there once Annie went home she set up our website and it’s awesome!

The second team Dr. Dean brought was from Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene, this team consisted of 20 youth ages 12 – 18 and 4 adults. They funded the whole playground, as well as swings and specialized equipment for handicapped children and brought more new moms care packages! They set to work creating a park/playground with sidewalks and a wheelchair swing! They placed a castle with two levels on it and ramps to go to all the area. As you stroll along the park area you are in the shade on paths large enough for 2 wheelchairs to pass one another.  Some of the girls even went with Dana to the hospital to minister there. We were blown away by the energy and laughter this group brought with them daily.

We are building the camp in Phases! Phase 1 Land secured Done, Phase 2 Build Playground, grade parking lot can be added to for growth, & Phase 3 dig well & water reserve, completely financed! Phase 3 was completed when Mark visited many of you this Oct – Dec and the work will begin soon! We are on Phase 4! Bathroom & showers! Total to complete is $20,000 usd, men and women’s restroom, with 3 sinks, and 4 stalls in each bathroom 2 of which are ADA, 6 showers with 4 of them wheelchair accessible. The building is 17’ x 59’ and stems to be a real eye catcher as well as very functional. Project can be broken down, so many hands can complete this building!

                     Bring a Team to Belize!

Our focus has been on serving the Lord and building the camp he desires us to build. However, we have neglected a very important part of our ministry, ourselves. We are in need of monthly supporters, if you have not committed to giving on a monthly basis will you please pray about doing so.  We need our monthly donations to increase by $2000 a month.  This seems like a lot, but when you are a family of 5 living on $1300 a month it is a need that must be met to serve God the way He has called us to serve.

We want to thank these Churches our Families for allowing Mark to come and share this Oct, Nov & Dec. and for their generous love donations towards Phase 3 completion! Thank you for partnering with us on this journey that the Lord has called us to in Belize.

Hospital Ministry

The hospital ministry continues to grow and reach many new moms with much needed supplies. A new part of this ministry is providing underage pregnant girls with supplies before they go into labor, thus enabling them to have something to take to the hospital.  Dana continues to visit new moms at their homes, offering advice on breastfeeding and making sure the baby is thriving.  It is not unusual to see a baby given water instead of milk.  Labor and delivery classes are still being taught at the hospital and should a pregnant mom need someone to be with her during labor, Dana will go and be with her until the baby arrives. A new locations of training has started in the Mennonite community in Spanish Lookout what a blessing it is to teach these young women.
The year ended with a Large donations to buy all 45 nurses and Doctors in San Igancio hospital a Christmas present. Many days after they were coming up to Dana very excited about the fact they received a gift!
Care packages include: bible, onesie, blanket, socks, hat, 4 diapers, ¼ pk of baby wipes, baby oil, baby shampoo, bottle water, toilet paper, shampoo
